How to set the number of decimals for the elevation when creating stations from points?
Summary
When creating setting out stations from points in MDT, the command does not ask how many decimals it will assign to the elevation of the resulting station. The reason is that this number of decimals is not an option of the command itself, but a general parameter of the Setting Out configuration. This article explains where to adjust that parameter so that stations created from points take the required elevation decimals.

Symptoms
When using "Create from Points" to generate stations from MDT points, the command neither asks for nor shows how many decimals it will give to the station elevation.
There is no visible option, within the command itself, to set the number of decimals of the resulting elevation.
Cause
The number of decimals of the station elevation is taken from the general Setting Out configuration, not from a specific option of the command that creates stations from points. The command therefore applies whatever value is defined in that configuration, without asking for it at the moment the stations are created.
Solution
Case: setting the elevation decimals of stations created from points
Go to Utilities > Configuration > Setting Out.
Locate the "Decimals in Elevation" parameter. Its default value is 2.
Change it to the value you need (for example, 3 decimals).
Then run the create stations from points command: the generated stations will already take the number of decimals you have configured, taking it from the elevation of the source point.
If the problem persists
Check that you saved the change in Utilities > Configuration > Setting Out before running the command again; the new number of decimals applies to executions after the change.
If the stations still do not show the expected decimals after adjusting the parameter, contact APLITOP technical support, indicating your MDT version and an example of the result obtained.
