How are GIS attributes added to graphic objects?
To add GIS attributes to graphic objects (points, lines or polygons) in tcpGPS, the process is divided into two phases: first, the structure of the fields in the layer is defined, as shown here and then the values for each specific object are entered.
- Assigning values to objects
Once the fields are defined, you can enter the information in the following ways:
During the survey (Automatic): If you activate the option "Attributes after taking point" in the program's Configuration, the attribute editing screen will open automatically every time you capture an object.
Point objects: Select the point on the map and press the Information button or access it through the Edit > Points option.
Lines and polygons: Select the object on the survey screen and press the information (i) icon that will appear in the bottom bar.
Attributes are managed in Key:Value format, where the key is the name of the field defined in the layer and the value is the data entered by you. Finally, all this information can be exported together with the geometry in Shapefile format for use in software such as QGIS.
