How are GIS templates created and used?
The GIS templates in TcpGPS are customizable and reusable elements across different projects that allow the user to streamline SURVEY in the field, by selecting Name comfortably from a predefined List instead of typing them manually.
Below is detailed how to APPLY them:
Creation of GIS templates
The process is usually performed from the attribute editing menu of a layer:
Access: Enter the Layer Manager, select the working layer and press the Edit button. Within the attribute editing menu, press the Attribute Templates icon.
New template: On the "GIS Templates" screen, use the Top toolbar and press the Add (+) button to create a new one, assigning it a unique name.
Add entries: To provide content to the template, use the bottom vertical toolbar and press Add (+). A dialog will open to enter the Code (technical value) and the Description (what the user will see).
Save: It is essential to press the Save (floppy disk) button to confirm and store the changes made.
Import from external files
If you already have created lists, you can import them directly:
Use the Import GML button within the templates menu to load files in CSV Format.
The Structure of the file must be:
Code;Description(Example:MA;Wood).
How to use templates
For a template to be available during Survey, it must be associated with a field of the layer:
Attribute configuration: When creating or editing a GIS attribute for a layer, select the type List.
Linking: The system will allow you to choose one of the previously configured templates.
Use in the field: During SURVEY or when editing points, when reaching the field that has the template associated, a list icon will appear. By pressing it, the list of OPTIONS will drop down (Example: PVC:Plastic) so that you only have to tap the desired option.
Templates also allow you to Delete existing entries or even Delete the Clear Layer: if it is no longer needed using the trash can icon.
