How can I generate a Slope Map?
To generate a slope map in TcpMDT, you must follow these steps and consider the following configuration options:
Access and Prerequisite
Command: Access the Maps > Draw Slope Map menu (or through the corresponding icon on the ribbon).
Surface: The program automatically uses the surface set as "current" in the drawing to perform the analysis.
Analysis Configuration
When executing the command, a dialog box will appear where you can define the technical criteria:
Orientation Criterion: By default, it uses the direction of maximum slope, but allows selecting specific directions (North-South, East-West, etc.) or manually designating a direction in the drawing.
Ignore Direction: You can check this box so that the program considers only the inclination, regardless of whether it is upslope or downslope.
Range Filtering: It is possible to indicate a specific Slope Range (%) if you are only interested in analyzing a determined interval of inclinations.
Color Customization
Differentiated Palettes: You can configure independent color scales for negative slopes and positive slopes.
Interval Management: Through the palette button, you can define the number of intervals, edit percentage ranges, or load previously saved palette files with the .plm extension.
Output Format and Representation
The map can be generated in two main formats within the CAD:
Geometric Entities (3D Faces): Creates the map using three-dimensional faces.
Image (GeoTIFF): Generates a georeferenced image file (with the suffix
_slope_direction). This option allows assigning a transparency factor, which facilitates overlaying the map on other elements (such as orthophotos) without hiding them.Zone Contours: If you check this box, the program will delimit each group of slopes with closed polylines, automatically creating one layer for each classified range.
Completion and Legend
Once the dialog box is configured and "OK" is pressed, the program will request:
Text Height: Define the size of the legend labels.
Insertion Point: Designate a location in the drawing to place the informational legend that explains the color scale.
By default, the result is drawn on the MAPA-PENDIENTES layer.
