How to add roads to the application?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To add roads to tcpGPS, you need the Professional (Advanced) version of the application. The procedure is carried out through the following steps:

  1. Accessing the module: In the main menu, go to Menu > Edit > Roads. A list of the roads that are part of the current project will be displayed.

  2. Road import: Press the Add (+) button. You can import data from the following compatible formats:

    • .eje file: Native format created by TcpMDT for the road alignment.

    • LandXML file: Automatically imports all contained alignments, including their vertical alignments (Profile entity) and cross sections (CrossSects).

    • IFC file (version 4.3): Allows comprehensive import of alignments, vertical alignments, and cross sections in this standard BIM format.

  3. Element association: Once the alignment is loaded, the application will automatically open the road editing screen. In this section, if the imported file did not contain all the information, you can:

    • Associate a vertical alignment (.ras files).

    • Create a list of cross section files (.tra files) associated with that alignment.

  4. Management and visualization: In the road list, you can select the active road by clicking the marker to its left. On the survey map, roads are drawn in blue, while the active one is highlighted in red.

Once added, you can view the numerical and graphical data of the alignment, vertical alignment, and cross sections, as well as proceed with the setting out lines of the road by station and offset or code.
