What is the difference between an "Alignment" and an "Axis"?

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

Although they are often used as synonyms, in MDT alignments are the independent geometric primitives (straight lines, arcs, clothoids) that, when grouped and given analytical continuity, become an axis. The axis is the entity required to perform profile, volume, and setting out calculations.
