What methods exist for creating an alignment?
MDT offers various ways to generate an alignment depending on the data source:
Convert Polyline to Alignment: Transforms a polyline from the drawing into an analytical alignment (straight lines and arcs).
File importation: MDT allows integrating BIM workflows by importing horizontal and vertical alignments contained in LandXML or IFC 4.3 Add2 (IFC Road) files. It also allows you to convert files coming from other applications.
Convert Alignments: This method is essential when independent Layout Elements (straight lines, circular curves, and clothoids) have been previously designed; the command allows grouping these geometric primitives and converting them into a functional alignment for cross section calculations, volumes, and setting out lines.
Draw Alignment: Allows interactive on-screen design by entering segments sequentially.
Enter Alignment: Allows manually entering data for Critical Sections from a list.
