Is it possible to interactively edit the parabolic curves of the grade line vertices?
Yes, it is possible to interactively edit the parabolic curves of the vertices of a grade line in TcpMDT through various specific tools and commands that allow both numerical adjustment and graphical offset in real time.
Below are the main ways to perform this interactive editing:
This command allows you to modify the parabolic curves of a grade line after selecting the vertex to edit. It offers the following interactive functions:
Graphical Offset: Using the Select button, the user can move the parabolic curve directly in the drawing.
Movement Restrictions: During movement, it is possible to fix the previous slope, the next slope, or neither, forcing the vertex to move only in the desired direction.
Tangent Adjustment: Allows matching the input and output tangents or aligning them graphically with the parabolic curves of adjacent vertices.
Real-time Volume Calculation: If the corresponding checkbox is activated, the program shows how each modification of the vertex affects the total volume of cut slopes and embankments of the roadway.
This tool provides a complete visual editing environment for .RAS files. Its interactive capabilities include:
Editing via "Hot Points": When selecting the grade line in the CAD Viewer, its vertices appear as hot points (grips) that can be dragged with the mouse.
Radial Context Menu: When placing the cursor over a highlighted vertex, a menu appears allowing you to choose between Modify (relocate the vertex graphically) or Edit Parabolic (open a dialog to modify technical parameters such as Kv, tangent, or sag).
Dynamic Preview: While making changes, the program displays a dashed yellow line representing how the final grade line will look before confirming the operation.
Cursor Restrictions: Allows limiting mouse movement to fix only the elevation, the station (PK), or to follow the line defined by the previous or next tangent.
MDT includes a specific function that allows forcing a parabolic curve to pass through a specific point selected graphically on the profile. After selecting the point on the screen, the software automatically recalculates and draws the final grade line adjusted to this restriction.
Interactive Insertion
When inserting new vertices, the process is also interactive: the user sees the result of the new geometry as they move the cursor along the profile, allowing them to choose the most suitable location before validating the final insertion.
