How can I import a GML layer?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To import a GML layer in tcpGPS, you must use the application's layer manager, which allows you to load reference cartography to visualize it on the work map.

The steps to perform the import are detailed below:

  1. Accessing the Manager: From the map screen, whether in survey or setting out lines mode, open the Layer Manager.

  2. Add the layer: Press the Add Layer (+) button located at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Type selection: Choose the GML Layer option among the available layer types.

  4. File location: The Android file explorer (SAF) will open, allowing you to select the GML file from the device's internal storage or directly from your Google Drive account.

  5. Property configuration: Once the file is selected, you can define the following parameters on the editing screen:

    • Layer name: A custom identifier for the project.

    • Opacity: The transparency level to simultaneously view other layers or the base map.

    • File: Displays the path of the file to be rendered.

Technical considerations:

  • Supported objects: The application is capable of interpreting complex GML geometric structures that include tags such as <gml:MultiSurface>, <gml:PolygonPatch>, and <gml:LinearRing>, among others.
