How can I import a Shape layer?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To import a Shapefile layer in tcpGPS, you must follow a specific procedure through the layer manager. It is essential that the files are correctly prepared before starting the process in the application.

The steps and requirements are detailed below:

  1. File Preparation (Essential Requirement)

For the application to load a map of this type, it is mandatory that the following three files are contained within a single .zip file that has the same name as the original files:

  • .shp: Contains the geographic information.

  • .shx: Index file.

  • .dbf: Database with point and geometry information.

The application supports point, line, or polygon geometries, in both 2D and 3D.

  1. Import Procedure

  1. From the map screen (in Survey or Setting Out Lines), open the Layer Manager.

  2. Press the Add Layer (+) button.

  3. Select the Shape Layer type.

  4. Use the FILE EXPLORER button to Plot Report the .zip file. You can choose files stored in the internal memory of the Device or directly from your Google Drive account.

  1. Layer Configuration

Once the file is selected, you can edit the following properties on the configuration screen:

  • Name: Assign an identifying name for the layer in your project.

  • Opacity: Adjust the transparency level to WATCH it over the base map.

  • Color: Select the color for the lines and points represented on the map.
