How can I import DXF or DWG layers?
To import DXF or DWG files as mapping layers in tcpGPS, you must follow a procedure through the application's layer manager. These files are primarily used as working plans and references.
The steps to perform the import are detailed below:
Import Procedure
Accessing the Manager: From the map screen (in survey or setting out lines mode), open the Layer Manager.
Add Layer: Press the Add Layer (+) button.
Type Selection: Choose the corresponding layer type (DXF Layer or DWG Layer).
File Location: The Android file explorer (SAF) will open, where you can select the file from internal storage or directly from your Google Drive account.
Layer Configuration: Once the file is selected, you can configure the following parameters:
Name: Identifier for the layer in the project.
Opacity: Transparency level for visualization.
Section File: You can choose to import all layers contained in the file or select only those you need.
Color: Allows you to decide whether to keep the original colors of the file or apply a single color for the entire representation.
Supported Objects
In DXF: Arcs (2D and 3D), circles, polylines, lines, points, texts, and blocks are supported (the latter are automatically decomposed or exploded into polylines upon import).
In DWG: In addition to points, lines, and polylines (2D and 3D), ellipses, slots, helixes, and blocks discretized into lines are supported.
Additional Notes
Surfaces: If you have a DXF file containing Indeterminate. entities (3DFACE), you can import it specifically as a Surface Layer to perform Manual thickness analysis or elevation comparisons.
Performance: The application has been optimized to improve performance during the import of these heavy graphic layers.
Setting Out Lines: Once imported, you can perform the setting out of polylines or polygons by directly selecting elements from the imported mapping.
