I have cross-sections drawn with tcpMDT, can I automatically generate the cross-section file from the drawing?
Yes, it is possible to automatically generate the cross-section file from a drawing created with TcpMDT, especially if version 6.0 or higher was used.
To carry out this process, you must follow these steps:
Use the Convert Cross-Sections from Drawing command.
Select the specific option Cross-sections drawn with MDT version 6 or higher.
The program will automatically detect the objects in the drawing and ask you for the name of the output file to dump the data.
Depending on the nature of the drawing, the software will act as follows:
If the cross-sections belong to a segment, the command will ask you for the corresponding segment file to update the natural terrain information with the changes made in the drawing.
If they are individual cross-sections, it will directly request the name of the natural terrain (.TRA) file where the extracted cross-sections will be saved.
This tool is extremely useful if you have made manual modifications in the CAD and want these to be reflected again in the data file for subsequent volume or surface calculations
