If I have an alignment and several surfaces, how can I simultaneously generate cross-sections for each surface?
To simultaneously generate cross-sections from several surfaces using a single alignment, you must use the specific command "Create Long Section from Several Surfaces" within the cross-sections module.
The procedure is detailed below according to the REFERENCE MANUAL:
Surface selection: When executing the command, a window will appear where you must add all the surface (.SUP) or grid (.MDE) files you wish to process.
Automatic volume calculation (optional): If you select exactly two surfaces, the software will enable the "Calculate Volume" option. If activated, the program will automatically perform a volume calculation BY PROFILE DIFFERENCE after generating the sections.
Parameter configuration: After validating the surfaces, a window will appear to set the generation criteria, similar to the standard Get Profiles command:
Designate the working alignment.
Define the interval between profiles and the width (distance to the left and right of the alignment).
Set the desired sampling (Critical Sections, specific distances, etc.).
File generation: Once the dialog is validated, MDT will generate a cross-section file (.TRA) for each selected surface. Each of these files will automatically take the name of the surface from which it was obtained.
This method is the inverse of the "Create Long Section from Several Alignments" command, which allows generating multiple cross-sections from a single surface but using different alignments On ground plan.
