How can I generate multiple profiles simultaneously from several surfaces?
To generate multiple longitudinal profiles simultaneously from different surfaces, you must use the specific command Create Long Section from Several Surfaces.
The steps and considerations for performing this process are detailed below:
Surface selection: When executing the command, a window will appear where you can enter the different surface files (.SUP) and mesh files (.MDE) you wish to work with.
Alignment designation: After validating the surfaces, the program will request the reference alignment, which you can select graphically on the drawing or via a file.
Sampling configuration: A dialog box will open to define which points will be included in the profiles:
All Cuts: Generates a point in the profile for each intersection with a triangle of the surface.
Critical Sections: Includes the vertices and tangent points of the alignment.
Distances: Allows you to add specific chainage points (CP) that you need to appear in the resulting profiles.
Result and storage: Once the process is validated, a profile file (.LON) will be created for each selected surface.
Naming convention: Each generated file will automatically adopt the name of the surface file from which it was derived and will be saved in the folder where that surface is located.
Additionally, if you need the inverse case (generating multiple profiles from a single terrain but using different alignments), there is the Create Long Section from Several Alignments command, which reads all alignments in the drawing to process them in bulk.
