What are the advanced geometric point setting out tools and how are they used?

Updated on tcpGPS

In the SET OUT POINTS module of TcpGPS, there are advanced geometric tools that allow you to select or calculate objectives directly from graphic objects on the map, without the need for the point to previously exist in isolation in the database.

These tools are as follows:

  1. Intersection Setting Out

This tool allows you to plot and set out the exact point where geometric details of the project intersect.

  • How to use it: After activating the corresponding icon in the staking out options bar, the user must press on the intersection of two lines or polygons.

  • Special cases: It also works by selecting a single line that has an intersection with itself.

  1. Vertex Setting Out

Facilitates the selection of points that are part of linear entities or areas.

  • How to use it: The user must press on a polyline or a polygon on the map screen.

  • Operation: The application will automatically identify and select the nearest vertex to the place where the screen was pressed to start its setting out.

  1. Circle Centre Setting Out

It is a specific function for working with circular geometries present in the cartography.

  • How to use it: Activate the tool and press on a circular object on the map.

  • Operation: The software automatically calculates the centre of the circle and establishes it as the target point to be set out immediately.

These functions are complemented by visual guidance modes (Map, Compass and Target) and voice indications, which help the user to reach the calculated position with precision.
