How to record and export a camera path?
Summary
On a point cloud you can record a camera path by capturing several viewpoints (key frames) that the program then links into a trajectory. This article explains how to capture those views, how the path is generated and how to export or import it for reuse.
Applies to
TCP-PointCloud Editor (POINTCLOUD): recording of camera paths.
The documented case does not state a version number.
Symptoms
You need to record a camera path over a point cloud and then be able to export or import it.
Cause
This is not a program error, but the normal behaviour of the tool: the camera path is not defined in one go, but by capturing several viewpoints (key frames) that the program then links into a trajectory.
Solution
Case: recording a camera path and exporting or importing it
Activate the Imagery ribbon and, within the VIDEO group, click Record Free Path: the corresponding dialogue is shown.
Place the camera at the first viewpoint you want to include in the path.
Press the ADD button (the first button on the left, above the table of viewpoints) to capture that key frame.
Repeat the two previous steps for each view you want to include in the path.
Once you have captured all the views you want, the program generates the path and moves the camera along it for the duration of the video.
If the problem persists
The support team has a video showing the steps to record a camera path: you can request it when opening the enquiry.
