What is point cloud consolidation and when should it be applied?

After performing cleaning, filtering, and deletion processes, it is highly recommended to use the Consolidate Point Clouds command. This operation replaces the original point clouds with new versions that physically omit points that have been deleted or filtered (hidden) during the session.

Consolidation not only helps keep a project organized, but also significantly improves application performance by reducing the total number of points the system must manage in memory and on disk. It is especially recommended before performing final exports or calculations of complex digital models.
