How to export photos added to surveyed points?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To export the photos associated with points in tcpGPS, you have several methods depending on whether you need individual files or files integrated into a specific exchange format.

The available options are detailed below:

  1. Export in MDT format (for office software)

This format is specifically designed to work with the TcpMDT office software.

  • In the EXPORT menu, choose the MDT option.

  • This process generates files with extensions .pun and .gps, as well as a FOLDER with the linked images and voice notes.

  • When performing this type of export, the application will explicitly ask if you wish to include the images and audio in the data package.

  1. Complete project EXPORT

If you want to extract absolutely all content from the project, including the database and the multimedia folder:

  • Select Menu > EXPORT > Project export.

  • The application will create a .zip file containing the complete project folder.

  • Inside that ZIP, you will find a folder called img where all photos are saved.

  • There is an index.txt file inside said folder that links each point number to the corresponding image file name.

  1. Export in KMZ format

Since version 2.3.2, the application allows exporting points along with their linked images in a single file compatible with Google Earth.

  • Go to Menu > EXPORT > POINTS.

  • Select the KMZ Format.

  • The generated file will contain the georeferenced points and photos that can be WATCH directly on the map in any compatible viewer.

  1. Direct access via USB

You can connect your Android Device to a computer to manually Copy the photos:

  • Set the Device to "Transfer files" mode.

  • Navigate to the path: Android/data/com.aplitop.tcpgps/files/projects/[Project_Name]/img/.

  • From there you can Directly Copy the JPEG files to your PC.

Additional technical information:

  • Photos captured with the application automatically save the receiver's latitude and Length in the image's EXIF header, facilitating their later location if used outside the application.

  • tcpGPS allows you to Bind multiple images to the same point.
