How are surfaces imported?
To import surfaces in tcpGPS, you must have the Professional version of the application. This process allows you to incorporate external digital terrain models to perform elevation analysis, quick cross sections, or volume calculations.
The steps and requirements are detailed below:
Accessing the tool
To manage and import surfaces, follow this path:
Menu > Edit > Surfaces.
Import Procedure
Within the surface management screen:
Press the Create Surface button (identified by the "+" icon).
Select the file from the device's FILE EXPLORER or from Google Drive.
Configure the PROPERTIES of the surface layer to be created:
File: Identifier for the project.
Centroid -Z: Adjust the transparency level to WATCH other map elements simultaneously.
Color: Choose the representation color for the Surface.
Press the confirmation button to start loading the file.
Supported Formats and Objects
The application is compatible with the following file types, provided they contain specific three-dimensional data:
DXF: Only Indeterminate. entities (3D faces or triangles) that define the model are processed.
LandXML: Surface entities are read.
IFC: Supports models in IFC version 4.0 or 4.3 format.
Management and Use
Once imported, the Surface will appear in the Section File of the project as a "Surface Layer". If the project contains several Surfaces, you can change the active layer from the layer management; the Surface selected as active will be the one used by the application for analysis functions and elevation comparison with the current GPS position.
