How to create a quick profile on a surface?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To create a quick profile on a surface in tcpGPS, you must have the Professional version of the application. This tool allows you to graphically visualize the terrain relief of a digital model along a line drawn in the field.

The detailed procedure is as follows:

  1. Accessing the module: In the main menu, go to Edit > Surfaces.

  2. Open tools: Select the desired surface from the list and press the Surface Tools button (identified by a wrench icon), which will open a specific map screen.

  3. Activate the function: Press the button with the graph icon located at the bottom of the Digital Model screen.

  4. Draw the section: Tap two points on the screen; these will act as the start and end points of the profile line.

  5. Viewing the result: If the drawn line intersects the digital model, the application will automatically display a graph with the longitudinal profile and the corresponding elevations for that path (as shown in Figures 114 and 115 of the manuals).

Important note: For this and other analysis tools to work correctly, ensure in the Layer Management that the surface you wish to work on is marked as the active layer. Or select it from the surface list.
