How can you prevent triangulation in an area, such as a building?
To prevent triangulation in a specific area, such as a building, MDT primarily offers the use of Islands. An island is defined as an area within the Point Cloud where triangulation is not intended, functioning as a void where the Elevations model is not defined. To delimit these exclusion zones, the user can use the Islands command, which allows drawing closed polylines that serve as boundaries for triangulation.
When executing the CREATE SURFACE command, it is essential to check the box to consider islands and specify the layer where these polylines are located (by default, the program uses the layer named "ROT-ISLAS").
If the Surface has already been generated previously, you can use the Vaciado por Áreas tool to create the void afterwards. This voiding command requests a closed polyline and allows you to choose whether the area of action (the zone without triangulation) is inside or outside said line. In addition to modifying the GRID of triangles, the voiding process optionally allows you to DELETE the topographic POINTS and Break lines located within the building area to Clear the Model.
