When creating a surface, the error "3 or more vertices are required" appears

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

When creating a surface, this error may appear if the program does not find elements to triangulate. There are several possibilities:

  • If you are trying to triangulate points, by default the program selects all points in the drawing, except for points belonging to a non-triangulable level. If all points in the drawing belong to non-triangulable levels, the result is that there are no vertices with which to create the surface, and the warning appears. By default, the only non-triangulable level is Information. To resolve this, you can change the level of the points using the Points > Change Level command, or change the behavior of levels with Utilities > Configuration > Points

  • If you are triangulating point cloud objects, and you have selected a point category or a window selection that does not include any vertex.

  • If you are triangulating break lines, the warning may occur when the polylines of the break lines are drawn in 2D, and there are no points with elevation that coincide with the vertices of the polylines. In this way, the program skips the break line because there is no valid elevation to use.
