How to generate the GML of buildings for the Cadastre?
Summary
In MDT, GML export for the Cadastre is not limited to plots: it can also generate the file for buildings and other constructions. The key is to define the outline beforehand as a building from the "Other Constructions" section; from then on, the same Export to GML command recognises that it is a building and automatically applies the specific format the Cadastre requires for constructions. This article explains the procedure and how to handle particular cases such as swimming pools or sports courts.
Applies to
MDT 9 (the version expressly mentioned in the documented cases).
Plots functions, "Other Constructions" section.
GML export for the Cadastre tool.
Symptoms
The user needs to generate GML files of constructions with MDT (buildings, multi-storey buildings, swimming pools, sports courts) that are valid for the Cadastre, but only finds the option to import or export a plot GML.
Doubt as to whether a two-storey building can be submitted in a single file.
Doubt as to which GML version the file is generated in.
Cause
This is not a program error but a matter of not knowing the workflow: the GML format for constructions is not obtained from the plot export, but by first defining the outline as a building. Once this is done, the GML export detects the type of element and generates the appropriate format automatically.
Solution
Case: generating the GML of a building
Run MDT > Plots > Other Constructions > Define Building.
Define the outline of the construction as a building. The number of storeys above ground level can be entered in the definition.
Then run the same Export to GML command. The program will detect that it is a building and will automatically apply the corresponding specific format.
Export format
By default, the export is set to generate the GML in version V4 (Inspire V4).
Number of storeys
Although the number of storeys above ground level can be entered when defining the building, it is advisable to contact the Cadastre and confirm that this information is sufficient for the particular case (for example, a multi-storey building).
Case: swimming pools and other constructions (sports courts)
Swimming pools can be defined and are normally linked to the building as an enclosure of it.
For other constructions such as a sports court (a tennis court, for instance) the behaviour is not guaranteed to be the same as for a swimming pool. In that case we recommend:
Checking with the Cadastre to confirm the appropriate treatment, or
Failing that, associating the construction with the building as an enclosure.
If the problem persists
Since Cadastre requirements may vary depending on the type of construction and the particular case, if you have any doubt as to whether the generated file meets what is required (number of storeys, treatment of pools or courts, and so on), confirm the details directly with the Cadastre before submitting the GML.
If, after defining the building, the export does not recognise the element as a construction or does not generate the expected format, contact APLITOP technical support, indicating your MDT version and attaching the drawing.
