How to process a Traverse with MDT?

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

After importing the observation data obtained with the total station, proceed to calculate the topographic traverse. To do this, work with the *.LEV file obtained after importation, in which data related to the calculation and results are saved.

To do this, execute MDT/Topography/Station Calculation; from this window, you can perform any type of calculation related to classical surveying.

Mainly, two paths can be followed:

  • Automatic, where MDT calculates all possible information considering all input data starting from the home base. Ideal for pre-calculating an itinerary when its order is unknown.

  • Manual, the user goes through the stations following the order deemed appropriate to reach the destination base. The main advantage is that the results are reviewed while the traverse is being calculated. This method is recommended.

After processing the traverse and knowing the calculation order, proceed to compensate for the

residuals in order to distribute the differences obtained.

Prior to any calculation, it is necessary to have the reference system of the work area configured if working with projected coordinates, or to have activated the necessary reductions to ellipsoid to consider them in the calculation.
