What should I do if MDT does not correctly convert the field observation file when importing a survey?

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

If data is not processed as expected when using the Import command, follow these steps to ensure correct interpretation of data from your total station or electronic data collector:

  • Verify Format Selection: Ensure that you have selected the exact Manufacturer and model or format of your equipment. If the format has specific options that affect conversion, use the More Parameters button to adjust them.

  • Adjust Conversion Configuration: Before processing the file, click the Configure button to define the criteria that differentiate Point Observations from Station Observations. You can set filters by code, prefix, numerical interval, or even specify that stations are those observed from different Occupation Points.

  • Manage Repeated and Inverse Observations: In the same configuration dialog, you can enable automatic detection of observations with inverse circle and decide what action to take for Repeated Observations (record only the first, the last, or calculate an average of all).

  • Use Check Observations: After conversion, check the Check Observations box. A detailed list will be displayed where you can verify if each observation has been correctly classified as Point or Station. If there are errors, you can manually change the type, delete invalid observations, or use the Search button to Plot Report specific values within very large files.

  • Manual Data Editing: If the problem lies in numerical values (such as an incorrect prism or instrument height), you can select the observation and click Edit to modify fields such as horizontal angle, vertical angle, distance, or code before the data is permanently integrated into the survey.
