How to use a laser rangefinder for COGO tools?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To use a laser rangefinder with the COGO tools in tcpGPS, you must first establish the connection between the device and the application and then activate data capture within the specific calculation tool.

  1. Use in COGO tools

Once the rangefinder is connected, the workflow within the survey tools changes to facilitate data entry:

  1. Open COGO: On the survey screen, press the tools button (wrench icon) and choose the desired function (for example, Distance and Azimuth or Intersections).

  2. Activate laser measurement: In the fields where a distance or radius must be entered, a specific button with the rangefinder icon will appear.

  3. Data capture: When pressing this button in the application, the message "Waiting for rangefinder data..." will appear.

  4. Physical measurement: Press the measurement button on your laser rangefinder; the device will automatically send the value to tcpGPS via Bluetooth.

  5. Precision: The value will be added directly to the corresponding text field with a precision of 3 decimal places.
