How to Import and Export Codes?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

To APPLY codes in tcpGPS, a database system is used that allows their transfer via text files (.txt) or comma-separated values (.csv). The procedures for exporting and importing these tables are detailed below:

EXPORT Codes

This process allows you to extract the current database to WATCH or Edit it in external tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

  1. Access: Enter the Main Alignment menu of the application.

  2. Selection: Choose the EXPORT option and then Codes:.

  3. Location: Select a FOLDER on your Device to save the FILE.

  4. File Structure: The generated file contains Final Station: for the Code, Type, Symbol, Color, Layer and Description.

    • Critical note: It is fundamental not to MODIFY the header line of the file, as the application uses it to validate the File when importing it again.

External Editing

It is possible to edit the code file manually following the instructions:

Import Codes

Once the file with the desired codes is prepared, follow these steps to load them into the application:

  1. Start: Open the main menu and access Import > Codes:.

  2. Mode Configuration: A dialog will open where you must choose how to integrate the data:

    • Add codes: Adds the new records to the end of the database already existing in the application.

    • Replace complete code table: Clear Layer: all current codes and replaces them entirely with those from the file.

  3. Duplicate Management: If you chose "Add codes", you must indicate what to do if a code already exists:

    • Ignore: Keeps the original code of the application and does not import the duplicate.

    • Replace with new code: The information from the imported file overwrites that of the existing code.

  4. Completion: Press Accept and select the corresponding File using the Android FILE EXPLORER.

Once the import is finished, you can proceed to the code management screen and start Using a point from the current project them.
