How is a continuous point survey performed?

Updated on tcpGPS Leer en español

The continuous survey of points (or continuous survey) is a functionality available in both the Basic and Professional versions of TcpGPS for Android. It allows capturing a series of consecutive points automatically based on specific criteria.

The procedure to perform it is detailed below:

  1. Starting the continuous survey

To begin, you must press the continuous survey button located on the work bar of the survey screen (the icon represents an operator with a pole and a "play" symbol to its right).

  1. Criteria configuration

When activating the function, a configuration dialog will appear where you must select one or more of the following criteria for automatic capture:

  • Time interval: Defines how many seconds must pass before taking a point.

  • Distance interval: Sets the horizontal distance after which the next point will be recorded.

  • Height difference interval: Indicates the change in height required to capture a new coordinate.

  1. Validation and execution

  • First point: When starting the series, the application checks that the configured quality restrictions (position type, accuracy, number of satellites, etc.) are met only for the first point of the survey.

  • Subsequent points: Once the first point is accepted, the following ones will be captured automatically according to the set intervals. The system will indicate via voice whether a point has been taken correctly or not.

  • Visualization: The line formed by the captured points will be drawn on the screen in real time.

  1. Completion

To stop the automatic capture, you must press the same button again, whose icon will have changed to a stop symbol (a square). If a linear code is being used, the line will be finished when the automatic capture ends.
