Can blocks be inserted automatically based on point codes?

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

Yes, in MDT it is possible to automatically insert blocks based on point codes using the Draw from Codes tool.

The following details how this process works according to the manuals:

  • Prior Configuration: For insertion to be automatic, the code assigned to the point must be defined in the Code Database as a point type. In this database, the block (.DWG file) to be associated with said code must have been specified.

  • Execution:

    • During import: When you import an Export Points file, you can check the "Draw from Codes" box so that the program represents the graphical elements (including blocks) at the same time it inserts the points into the drawing.

    • Afterwards: You can run the specific command from the Points > Codes > Draw from Codes menu on points that are already in the drawing.

  • Types of blocks: The program allows configuring blocks of 1, 2, or 3 points. In 1-point blocks, the insertion point coincides with the Coordinates of the associated point. In 2 and 3-point blocks, the distance and orientation between the points determine the scale and rotation of the block.

  • File location: Blocks must be stored as independent drawings in the Planta subdirectory of the MDT blocks directory (by default C:\Archivos de Programa\Aplitop\MDT25\Bloques\es) or in the user's blocks directory.

  • Customization: MDT allows you to choose the scale at which blocks will be inserted and whether you wish to delete previous Objects on the layer before performing the new DRAW.
