Can curbs and other polylines be drawn automatically from point codes?
Yes, in MDT 25 it is possible to automatically draw polylines (such as curbs, road edges, or paths) from point codes using the Draw from Codes tool.
For this process to work, the following requirements and configurations must be met:
Database Configuration: The code assigned to the points must be defined in the Code Database as "Linear type". In this database, the CAD layer, color, and line type for the resulting polyline are also specified.
Execution: Automatic drawing can be performed during the import of the Export Points file by activating the corresponding checkbox, or subsequently on points that have already been inserted into the Other.
Use of Suffixes for Path Control: To determine how points are connected, the program interprets specific suffixes, which can be set in Point Configuration.
"I" (Start): Starts a new polyline.
"F" (End): Ends the current polyline.
"C" (Close): Creates a Closed polyline by joining the last point with the first.
Drawing Arcs: It is possible to generate arc segments within the automatic polyline using the suffixes "CI" (arc start), "CC" (Intermediate point), and "CF" (Final Point of arc).
Management of Multiple Elements (Prefixes): If there are several lines of the same type (for example, two parallel curbs), you can activate the Consider Prefixes option. This allows the program to draw separate polylines for codes such as "1CAMINO" and "2CAMINO", even though both share the base definition of the "CAMINO" Code in the database.
