tcpMDT

Connect points by proximity

Updated on tcpMDT Leer en español

Connects all points sharing an MDT code with 3D polylines, provided that the distance between consecutive points does not exceed the specified limit. When the distance exceeds the maximum, a new polyline is started, automatically separating different alignments within the same code.

The entire operation runs in a single call: it finds the points, sorts them by number, applies the proximity filters and draws the resulting polylines. The operation can be undone with Ctrl+Z.

Prerequisites: The MDT plugin must be loaded and points with the specified code must exist in the active drawing.

Parameters

Default

Description

code

text

Yes

—

Exact MDT code of the points to connect.

max_distance

number (m)

Yes

—

Maximum 2D distance between consecutive points. Required. If exceeded, a new segment is started.

max_dz

number (m)

No

—

Maximum elevation difference to continue the same segment.

max_angle

number (°)

No

—

Maximum direction change angle to continue the same segment.

layer

text

No

Code name

CAD layer where the polylines will be created.

color

integer (1–256)

No

256 (by layer)

ACI color of the polylines.

Result

One or more 3D polylines on the specified layer. The assistant reports the number of polylines and vertices created, and the maximum distance applied.

Tip: This command is the recommended alternative to Draw breakline by code when points of the same code belong to multiple separate segments in the terrain. The key difference is that max_distance is required here, guaranteeing that unrelated points are never connected.

Example prompts

You can ask the assistant things like:

  • Connect the points with code CAMINO with a maximum distance of 15 metres

  • Connect the points with code TN that are less than 25 metres apart

  • Connect the CUNETA points on layer DRENAJE, separating segments if the distance exceeds 10 m

  • Connect the BORDILLO points with a maximum distance of 5 m and a maximum height difference of 0.5 m

  • Draw the lines for code VALLA separating segments beyond 25 m
