Generate longitudinal profile
Calculates the longitudinal terrain profile along a drawing alignment, sampling the active surface (TIN .sup or grid .mde) at the specified interval. The result is saved as a .lon file in the same folder as the alignment file (.eje).
Prerequisites: The MDT plugin must be loaded, there must be an active drawing with at least one defined alignment, and an active surface (TIN or grid) must exist. If there is no surface, first create one with Create triangulated surface (TIN).
Important: this command calculates and saves the profile, but does not draw it. To display it in CAD, use the Draw longitudinal profile command afterwards.
Parameters
Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| text | Yes | — | Name (partial, case-insensitive) of the alignment. Example: |
| number (m) | No | 5.0 | Sampling interval in metres. Must be greater than 0. Smaller values give more precision but generate larger files. |
Result
.lon file created in the alignment folder. The assistant returns: number of profile points, start and end stations, elevation range (min/max) and full path of the generated file.
Tip: After running this command, use Draw longitudinal profile to graphically display the profile in CAD at the desired scale (parameters h_scale and v_scale).
Example prompts
You can ask the assistant things like:
Generate the longitudinal profile for alignment "carretera"
Calculate the profile for alignment EJE-1 with a 10 metre interval
Generate the terrain profile for the main alignment every 2 metres
Calculate the profile for the bypass
